Saifur sued over poll expenditure return

Election Commission has filed a case against former Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman and eight others for not submitting returns of the expenditure within the stipulated 30 days after the gazette notification of the ninth parliamentary election.

District Election officer of Sylhet Md Shamsul Alam sent an official letter in this regard to the Sylhet Kotwali Police Station last evening.

Later, police registered the case, reports our staff correspondent in Sylhet.

The other accused are Kahir Mahmud, Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury, Atiqur Rahman, Helal Uddin, Junab Ali, Obaidur Rahman Faruque, Dr Oliur Rahman and Kutub Uddin Ahmed Sikder.

The Officer in-charge of Kotwali Police confirmed the information saying investigation into the case would start soon.
