Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said the government would soon reveal an updated list of companies defaulting on various amount of loans.
Earlier on July 5, the finance minister revealed a list of 2,196 loan defaulters who dodged loans of Tk 15,451 crore and told parliament that the government has initiated steps to recover the amount.
The first list, which was updated up to March 2009 by Bangladesh Bank's Credit Information Bureau, included only those who defaulted on loans of Tk 1 crore and above each.
Muhith hinted that the position of Beximco Group might be changed in the upcoming list as the group claimed to have rescheduled its loans.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating an online tax return system at the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the finance minister said many companies became loan defaulters during the immediate past caretaker government.
He said the government is considering making tax paying mandatory for every tax identification number (TIN) holder within the next five years.
