A Dhaka court today sent former post and telecommunications minister barrister Aminul Haque to jail in a case filed for amassing wealth illegally and concealing information in his wealth statement submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Judge Tanzina Ismail of the Special Court-6 sent Aminul to jail after he surrendered before the court.
Earlier on May 20 last year, the court sentenced the BNP leader to 10 years' imprisonment and fined him Tk 1 lakh in the case.
The court also ordered the authorities to confiscate his illegal wealth worth over Tk 66 lakh.
A court in Rajshahi on July 26, 2007 sentenced Aminul to 31 years and six months' imprisonment, along with 24 others, for aiding and abetting militants.
